Week 19

Well, the baby didn't show us the goods yesterday. :( But thats okay. We go back September 2nd for another ultrasound and doctor appointment. The ultrasound technician said she THINKS its another girl, but can't be 100% sure, so i'm pretty excited at that news. Although Matt almost had a little melt down in the office when he heard that. I think he is going to be just fine. We finally setteled on names, for both a boy and girl. Matt has been very difficult with the naming process but finally said yes to both boy and girl names. Thank the lord!

Boy: Dylan Tyler
Girl: Emily Grace

I am really excited about possibly having another girl! And everyone pray really hard that this stubborn kid shows us everything next time, whether its a boy or girl! :)

Everything is going well. Other than a no show at the u/s, the baby is doing well. HB was 134 and our baby weighs 10oz. I gained more weight than I would have liked to..but i'm definatly going to be really watching what I eat to try to stay under 20lbs. Don't know if i'll be able to, but I can sure try!

Week 19

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

The weekend

So, turns out I completely lied about taking pictures this weekend. Oops!
I didn't even remember to take my camera with me! But, this is okay, because I will always have the memories. Although it would have been pretty nice to get a few pics of the waterballoon fight and the sillystring attacks. :)) Everyone had a blast and we got to spend some quality time with each other. I am very excited for the holidays so we can all hang out again. My family is the best!

Pregnancy wise everything is great! I have felt the baby do a couple of summersaults and tap a few times lately. Thursday we will be going in to find out the gender of the baby and we are all so very excited!!! Here is whats going on in week 18.

Week 18:

Fetal development in pregnancy week 18: fetus in fifth month We have two more ounces! Your "getting bigger-n-better by the minute baby" is already up to 7 ounces and 6 inches! This is a big week for their baby skin. There are now two distinct layers—the epidermis (or the surface skin) and dermis. Currently, their skin is covered with a greasy, waxy, cheese-like substance, known as vernix caseosa. Sure, it sounds pretty nasty, but this mixture of fatty secretions covering your little swimmer from head to toe is the best way to protect their oh-so-thin skin from bruising and abrasions as well as chapping caused by amniotic fluid exposure (and your little one is swimming in that stuff!). Still don’t like the fact your little darling is currently slathered in fatty cream like a greased pig? Well, you know the birthing process? Where you have to push something the size of a watermelon out a hole the size of a grape? That adorable little greased piglet would have a lot harder time getting through the birth canal without the vernix caseosa. Fun fact for momma’s with baby girls: it’s a uterus within a uterus! Your little girl will have developed a uterus and vagina canal by the end of this week.

ABOUT WEEK 17:

You are 17 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 15 weeks)
•The umbilical cord is growing thicker and stronger.
•Fetus weight is just over 5 ounces (150g).
•Baby is about 5 inches (14cm) long crown to rump.
•and would be about 9 inches (23cm) head to toe, if it could stretch out.
•The retina has become sensitive to light.
•The first stools (meconium) are now beginning to accumulate.
They recycle the amniotic fluid by swallowing up to a litre a day. Meconium (composed of products of cell loss, digestive secretion and swallowed amniotic fluid), is accumulating in the bowel. Fat stores begin to develop under your baby's skin this week. The fat will provide energy and help keep your baby warm after birth.

Baby's eyes are looking forward now, but they are still firmly closed. The skeleton is tranforming from cartilage to bone. The bones remain flexible to make the journey through the birth canal easier. You can feel your uterus just below your bellybutton. If you put your fingers sideways and measure, it is about two finger-widths (1 inch) below your bellybutton. Your uterus is the size of a cantaloupe.

The crown to rump length of your growing baby is 5 to 5.6 inches (12.5 to 14cm) by this week. Weight of the fetus is about 5.25 ounces (150g).

FiNALLY!!!

I finally got my other blogspot deleted!!! I've been trying to figure it out for months now, and I finally figured it out all on my own! :) I had to delete my whole Google account, but it was worth it. I can always get a new account. I just really wanted to get rid of my old blogspot account.

I swear one day I will get some new pictures to post on here. I should have a few good ones to post come Saturday. We are having a family gathering Saturday evening at my moms house, pool, food, family. Can't get much better than that! I will be sure to take lots of pictures and try to remember to post them.

I think thats about it for today. We are still anxiously awaiting the 29th, which is exactly one week from today!! I am very thankful that the appointment was schedule for 8:30am..no waiting for me! :)

So far This week:

This week has been good so far. Matt's dad has been staying with us since Tuesday and will be leaving on Saturday to go back to Pennsylvania. Mackenzie is enjoying being home after her two week vacation in PA. She brought back lots of toys and even more clothes!

Pregnancy wise everything is going smoothly except for these terrible headaches I've been having for about 4 days now. I think they are caffeine related. Sometimes drinking something with caffeine in it will help, but sometimes it won't. But in the end, all the headaches are totally worth it. :)
My doctor appointment on Monday went well. I gained 1lb 5oz in a month and the babys heartbeat was 143! The nurse found the heartbeat with NO problems this time! I was very happy for that.
I have been feeling the baby move around more often lately, especially when I sneeze. But they are still light taps, so sometimes I dismiss them as nothing really. Although I know its the baby. I can not wait until Matt and Mackenzie can feel the baby moving around from the outside. That is Matt's favorite part of me being pregnant. :)
Matt, Mackenzie & I will be going to the gender ultrasound on July 29. We are all VERY VERY VERY excited for that appointment! We have exactly 14 days until we find out. And thankfully our appointment is at 8am! So, no waiting for the appointment that day! We'll be the first ones there! YAY!!!!
For the longest time Matt & I had our baby names picked out, but now we just aren't so sure. [more so me than him] I think I'm definately stuck on Grace for a girl. But because I'm quite convinced its a boy [even though I would LOVE another girl] I want to pick out a name I am in love with just as much as Grace. I had decided on Memphis, but I'm just not that crazy about the name anymore. I am fond of Camden, but not crazy about it. I'm completely lost and think that I may come up with a creative way to get my family to help name our baby! :)

I think that just about covers everything thats been going on lately. So, until next time. Take care!

......

MY BABY GIRL IS COMING HOME TODAY FROM TWO WEEKS IN PENNSYLVANIA!!!!

Sunday, July 11, 2010

IT'S BEEN A WHILE.....

Well hello there. :) I haven't posted in a while, and actually haven't even checked out this site in a few weeks. I completely forgot about it...isn't that crazy!? So here's a quick update:

Mackenzie has been in Pennsylvania since 6/29 visiting Matt's side of the family. She will be coming home on Tuesday night. She will be flying down here with her 'Pop' [Matt's dad] and landing at 6:55pm. Matt's dad will be staying with us until Friday and then flying back Friday morning. Matt is really looking forward to visiting with his father. I am super ecstatic about Mackenzie coming home. We have missed her so much while she's been away. No more solo vacations for her for a while. I have to admit though sleeping in past 7am every morning has been bliss, I would much rather have my baby girl here with me.

The pregnancy is going great! I have my 4 month check up tomorrow with Dr. Peet. Nothing exciting is happening with that. They will listen for the heartbeat, ask me if I want to have any of the genetic testing done, I will say no, then I will leave. :) Pretty simple. My next appointment however will be the VERY VERY exciting one! We will be finding out if we are expecting our very anticipated Memphis Tyler or Grace Ann. [Tyler is Matt's middle name & Ann was my Memaw's middle name and my cousins middle name] I will be completely happy with either and am secretly praying for another girl. :) I will try to keep up better with the postings and pictures.
